The NRS is at it again—granting money to graduate student researchers working at our reserves. For 26 years, the NRS has provided critical early-career funding for University of California masters and doctoral students conducting field research. Best of all, you could qualify for these monies too.

Those eligible for a Mildred E. Mathias Graduate Student Research Grant must:

1. be enrolled in a masters or doctoral program at any general University of California campus

2. conduct part or all of their graduate research at one or more of the 38 NRS reserves

Research on all topics is welcome, and students from all academic disciplines are strongly encouraged to apply.

The maximum individual grant is $3,000, and the limit on total awards is $38,000. The deadline for submitting an application is 8:00 am on October 14, 2013. Letters of recommendation and permissions to use reserve(s), are due no later than 8:00 am on October 23, 2013. Applications and all supporting material must be submitted electronically.
