Initial discussions about this need to happen soon.
If it is decided that licensing RAMS is a good direction to move in, apply for funding – perhaps and NSF FSML planning grant to get professional help moving forward, additional funding grants to pay for development process?
NAS highlights metrics needed for FSML – UCNRS is only group that have any substantial metrics. Real interest in something like RAMS being available for other FSML’s.
Can this be set up as a Recharge unit? NSF may provide development and potentially support funds, typically very supportive of initiatives that come out of NSF funded reports. Todd is talking to Keck Foundation about this especially if laddering in other types of data – climate etc.
Hilary and others potentially willing to provide support
The more links to KNB, DataOne, NSF funded projects that are integrated into RAMS 3.0, the more likely NSF is to provide support.
RAMS fees will be needed for development and staffing.

Getting NSF planning grant – who to bring to the table? LTER, DataOne, NEON, OBFS/NAML? Commercial product managers/developers?
Potential users: this is a fusion table created by the NAS for their recent report on the future of FSMLs. It includes all the field stations and marine labs they could find worldwide. Many of these are potential partners/subscribers for RAMS 3.0.
